Ghana international Christian Atsu
Ghana winger Christian Atsu has been handed a Premier League start for their 2017/18 opener against Tottenham Hotspurs at the ST. James Park this afternoon.
Atsu, who joined the Magpies permanently from Chelsea in the summer transfer window after impressing on loan last term, has been trusted by manager Rafa Benitez with a starting berth in their first game of the Premier League.
Newcastle United will deploy the 4-3-3 formation, with Atsu linking up in attack alongside Spanish youngster Ayoze Perez and last season’s top scorer Dwight Gyale as the front three.
Tottenham, meanwhile, start with last season’s English Premier League goal king Harry Kane as the lone man and will be backed by former Newcastle captain Moussa Sissoko, Delle Ali and Christian Eriksen.
